Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the fresh, firm fish and the light, crispy batter that coats each fillet. The generous portions, especially of haddock and cod, leave diners satisfied and eager to return. Seamer Fisheries shines in its consistent quality, highlighted by meticulously cooked chips that are both soft inside and crispy outside. The menu caters well to families, offering a kids' menu that pleases even the pickiest eaters.

The presence of friendly and attentive staff enhances the dining experience, making customers feel welcomed and appreciated. Many patrons enjoy the casual setting, where they can easily grab a quick meal or dine in for a relaxed experience, making it ideal for solo diners and families alike.

Most Disliked

Despite the many positives, some visitors have noted issues with payment options. A few customers experienced inconvenience when they could not pay by card, leading to frustration and a brief walkout. Suggestions for expanding payment methods to include more credit card options have been made, as not everyone carries cash. Additionally, the shop can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, leading to a wait time for orders. While the food quality remains high, impatient customers may find the wait frustrating, especially when dining with hungry kids.

Lastly, space can be a challenge during busy times. The casual atmosphere is sometimes crowded, making it harder to find seats during peak dining hours.

Bought fish and chips to takeaway. Delicious! Fish was firm and fresh and the batter was light and crispy. The chips were perfect too, soft and full of potato! Steak pie was tasty and packed with meat. Very happy with our choices.

We have rented a holiday cottage a few minutes walk away, tried Seamer Fisheries for the first time this evening - the best we have had in the area. Very fresh fish and friendly staff. However, I was lucky I have a cash with me so I paid in cash but I observed few customers have left because they couldn’t pay by card. I think Seamer Fisheries should consider about an another way of payment. For example, take credit cards.

What a great find! We were on holiday in Ayton and the three other fish & chip shops nearby were closed (Wed evening, mid April 🤔) but Seamer Fisheries, tucked away in Seamer High St. was open. The cod portion was pretty large and really nicely cooked in a light, crispy batter. Will definitely go there again when I next visit.

Called on way home from coast. The most beautiful white fish, light batter and delicious. If we lived nearer this would become our local ‘chippy’. Maybe a little pricey to what we pay at home, but definitely worth the extra couple of £’s. Highly recommend.

We had a misunderstanding a few weeks ago. Visited again this evening & all was sorted. The fish and chips are the best in the area & we are local. We travel 15 miles return to get the fish & chips despite others being nearer. Do not hesitate to visit. Superb food.
